Maine’s Julia Gagnon has earned her place in the “American Idol” top 14.The Cumberland native belted out her rendition of Jelly Roll’s “Need a Favor” after learning of her entry into the top 14. Prior to that, she covered Fantasia’s “Believe.”Julia’s journey started after securing a platinum ticket to Hollywood by singing “Ain’t No Way” by Aretha Franklin.The platinum ticket is only given to three auditioners each season. It meant she automatically advanced to the second round of Hollywood week.We spoke with Gagnon after her audition.“It was just a, such a humble moment to, to know that they held my audition above all of those people,” Gagnon said.Gagnon says after that audition, the support she recieved has skyrocketed.“I’ve had so many new people following my journey,” Gagnon said. “I’ve had people recognizing me on the streets.”Even with all the new attention Julia is getting, her original supporters are still by her side.“She is hands down the most talented person I have met, and I am so incredibly proud of the fact that I have met her and get to live a life with her,” said Nathanial Haven, Julia’s fiance. “I feel really prideful to be kind of one of the only known contestants from Maine,” Gagnon said. “Maine’s support, is just, it’s just otherworldly.”
