Washington goes into this battle of West Coast unbeatens coming off a 24-19 win over rival Washington in their Apple Cup rivalry game. Quarterback John Mateer was an engine behind that win in the first Apple Cup win since Washington left the Pac-12 for the Big Ten, accounting for all three of the team’s touchdowns (1 rush, 2 pass) with 245 passing yards and 62 more on the ground.
The Spartans took care of business in Week 3 with a 35-10 win over Kennesaw State where Washington State transfer quarterback Emmett Brown threw for 355 yards and four touchdowns to engineer an easy win.
