Fulham vs Man City LIVE: Premier League result and reaction as Foden and Gvardiol help City to big win

Manchester City hit the top of the Premier League with one week of the season left as two goals by Josko Gvardiol and one each from Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez sealed an emphatic 4-0 victory at Fulham fc.

City’s stroll in the London sunshine, their seventh successive league win and 16th consecutive victory over Fulham in all competitions, moved them two points clear of Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola’s relentless side, closing in on an unprecedented fourth English title in a row, have 85 points from 36 games, with Arsenal on 83 having also played 36.

Arsenal can regain top spot by beating Manchester United on Sunday but City, who play their game in hand at Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, are two wins away from making history.

Never mind just the title – can anyone really stop Man City winning the double in second gear?

One game closer for Manchester City, one match down as they seek to not just retain the Premier League but end the campaign with a domestic double. The reigning champions, looking for a fourth title in a row, kicked off one point behind Arsenal with a game in hand; they might end the day instead wondering if perhaps they could cruise to both trophies in second gear.

It is usual to suggest after title candidates pick up three points in this manner, where they dominate entirely and their hosts barely raise a hand in protest, that they will have more difficult tests ahead. Yet this time, will that really be true?

City have two league fixtures left to play and an FA Cup final. In order, they play a woefully out-of-form Tottenham who have suffered four straight defeats, then are home to West Ham on the final day, the Hammers being currently without a win in six and having confirmed the impending departure of manager David Moyes.

And at Wembley, sure: it’s Manchester United so it’s a rivalry, a derby and a final for goodness sake, a trophy to play for. But United are truly terrible, have defensive absences to contend with and their only two wins in the last eight have come against rock-bottom Sheffield United and Championship side Coventry, the latter on penalties.

Not that Pep Guardiola will encourage such suggestions, but Man City could easily stroll from here on out and there’s nothing at all that Arsenal, in particular, can do about it.

Fulham boss Marco Silva is next in front of the TNT cameras.

He says the game was “really difficult”, and calls the first half “a little quiet from us”.

“Not that many chances. We did not have much of the ball but even City with the control of the game did not have many chances.

“Second half we tried to change things from the bench. We had some good moments for around 15 minutes, had a chance with Muniz from a good Adama cross. After that the second goal killed the game.

“With it being so difficult we had to try and have the confidence to go [forward] but it was not the same, and it was hard to make an impact.”

he adds that overall, “it was a successful season with the context of what happened in the summer, a difficult summer after a good last season”.

“We had to rebuild again and we did it really well. We did not have the power of the other teams but it was a success. Now is the moment to sit with the board and discuss what are possibilities are.

“If we want to take a step forward we need to be clear and find out what the steps are in the market and go from there.”

Post-match stats

Plenty has been made about Rodri’s undefeated record, and the Spaniard has now gone 48 consecutive Premier League appearances without ending on the losing side for Manchester City. Only Sol Campbell has a longer unbeaten run – 56 games between November 2002 and October 2004!

The other impressive City player today was of course Josko Gvardiol, who now has five goals in his last seven games for the club. He didn’t score in any of his first 32 appearances.

Josko Gvardiol was first to speak to TNT.

He says it was “another great performance, not just from me but the team as well”.

“ It was a very good goal, but today we showed who we are and what we are ready for.

““Another two goals for me and of course another clean sheet. Really happy. We discussed about me taking the penalty, and of course I would have liked to, but we have a taker and he takes them.”

He adds that City “just need to be focused on ourselves and keep going that way. Of course we talk about it [goal difference] and as you can see we are trying to get there”.

On the Tottenham game, he says it is “another final”.

“Hopefully it is going to be another good game and another good day for us.”

So attention immediately turns to the final two games of the season for both of the sides that are still in the title race. Today’s result officially rules Liverpool out of the run-in.

Arsenal travel to Manchester to face a struggling United side at 4.30pm tomorrow. The Gunners now find themselves two points behind City, with a two-goal advantage in goal difference. If they win, the title race will go to the final day and their home game against Everton.

City could win the title against Spurs on Tuesday if Arsenal lose tomorrow. If not, the title race will go down to the final day, and their final game of the season at home to West Ham.

GOAL! Fulham 0-4 Manchester City

14:27 , Chris Wilson

96 mins: GOAL! Alvarez steps up and rolls the ball into the bottom-right corner, sending Leno the wrong way.

Issa Diop was also sent off there for getting a second yellow card.

PENALTY! Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:26 , Chris Wilson

94 mins: Fulham are barely bothering to press as the game nears its end, and City win a penalty from nowhere!

The away side attack, and Bobb cuts back the cross to Alvarez. He scuffs his shot, but is taken down by Diop!

Surely Gvardiol will take?

Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:22 , Chris Wilson

92 mins: Gvardiol, fresh off being awarded the player of the match award, plays a lovely diagonal to Lewis. The ball is worked back to Gvardiol, and despite the away fans willing him to shoot, he lays it off to Doku. The Belgian’s inviting cross isn’t met by any City player though.

Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:21 , Chris Wilson

91 mins: We’re into the first of seven minutes of added time. Fulham will be annoyed at that.

Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:20 , Chris Wilson

90 mins: Harry Wilson does well to get in behind and put a cross in, but there’s no Fulham shirt there to meet it.

City counter, and Robinson gets booked for stopping it.

Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:19 , Chris Wilson

88 mins: Doku is fine to carry on. City attack once more and Bobb exchanges passes with Lewis, but Palhinha intercepts before they can get the shot away.

Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:17 , Chris Wilson

86 mins: Doku is briefly down after the challenge from Palhinha. It looks like he was caught on the knee, and we’ll have a brief stoppage.

City counter and go with the direct route – Doku drops his shoulder and cuts inside, forcing a diving save from Leno.

Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:09 , Chris Wilson

77 mins: Issa Diop is booked for preventing a City counter.

Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:07 , Chris Wilson

76 mins: City are now top of the league, and have cut Arsenal’s goal difference advantage down to just three goals ahead of their game against Manchester United. Even a slip-up against Spurs may now not be so disastrous, though it certainly doesn’t look like that will happen on Tuesday.

Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:05 , Chris Wilson

75 mins: Harry Wilson has come on for Andreas Pereira as we enter the last 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Doku comes on for Kevin De Bruyne.

Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:04 , Chris Wilson

73 mins: The goal stands, and Gvardiol is now on a hat-trick this afternoon.

City are going nowhere in this title race.

GOAL! Fulham 0-3 Manchester City

14:03 , Chris Wilson

71 mins: GOAL! De Bruyne lays the corner off to Silva, who clips a ball towards the back post. Akanji misses it but Gvardiol gets contact, with his cushioned touch taking it below the hands of Leno and into the net.

There’s a VAR check for Akanji being offside, as he may have got a touch or interfered with play.

Fulham 0-2 Manchester City

14:01 , Chris Wilson

70 mins: Fulham have barely had a sniff of the ball since the second goal. It almost seems like the home side have accepted defeat here.

Bernardo Silva slips it through to De Bruyne, who’s overlapping down the right, but Diop clears the cross behind.

Fulham 0-2 Manchester City

13:59 , Chris Wilson

68 mins: The ball falls to De Bruyne on halfway and he drives towards the box. Just as he’s about to hit the shot, Palhinha wins the ball with a sliding tackle, and Haaland is offside as he takes a follow-up shot.

Fulham 0-2 Manchester City

13:57 , Chris Wilson

66 mins: Palhinha does very well to dispossess De Bruyne and win the foul from Haaland.

Fulham make another change as the on-loan Armando Broja replaces Rodrigo Muniz.

Fulham 0-2 Manchester City

13:55 , Chris Wilson

64 mins: There’s a brief penalty shout from the home fans as the ball bounces up to Silva in the City box, but it was nowhere near his arm.

City look calm now, as Dias cushions a header back to Ederson.

Fulham 0-2 Manchester City

13:52 , Chris Wilson

61 mins: CLOSE! A great chance for 3-0 as De Bruyne slips it through to Haaland in the box. He’s got time to bend a shot around Leno, but his balance is off and he scoops it wide and over!

GOAL! Fulham 0-2 Manchester City

13:51 , Chris Wilson

59 mins: GOAL! A goal from nothing and City are one step closer to the title!

Bernardo Silva skips away from Robinson far too easily. He surges towards the box and lines up the shot, but Palhinha makes a superb sliding tackle. However, the ball breaks free into the path of Foden, who’s unmarked, and he slips a low shot past Leno for 2-0! Good technique from the England man.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:49 , Chris Wilson

57 mins: Fulham’s best chance of the day so far as Traore gets away down the right again. He fizzes a cross into the box and Muniz gets a touch to it, but Ederson scrambles to it after it takes a touch off Rodri.

Moments later, City counter and Leno makes a good save down to his right.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:46 , Chris Wilson

55 mins: It’s City’s turn to be sloppy as Akanji gives possession away, but Traore can’t take advantage. Diop then takes down Haaland as City looked to counter.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:44 , Chris Wilson

53 mins: Almost a stunned silence as De Bruyne hits the cross straight out of play. Fulham win a foul on halfway as Rodri and Akanji combine to bring down Muniz.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:43 , Chris Wilson

52 mins: Nice play from Haaland, as he collects the ball and squares it to De Bruyne. He slips it wide to Silva, who hits a low shot at Leno. Corner for the away side.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:42 , Chris Wilson

50 mins: Fulham’s latest bit of possession ends with Robinson heading it to nobody near halfway, and City have it again.

Akanji gives it away though, and Cairney has the composure to keep the ball. Traore gets away down the right, but his cross goes straight out behind the goal.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:40 , Chris Wilson

48 mins: A reminder that one of Arsenal’s defeats this season came at Craven Cottage, so City will be aware of what the home side can do if they switch off.

There doesn’t look like much danger of that happening at the moment though. Fulham have barely touched the ball so far this half.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:36 , Chris Wilson

46 mins: Iwobi has moved to the wing, with Cairney coming into central midfield.

City have started the second half with plenty of the ball.

KICK-OFF! Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:35 , Chris Wilson

KICK-OFF! There are two changes for Fulham at half-time. Adama Traore and Tom Cairney come on for De Cordova-Reid and Willian.

City get the second period started.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:32 , Chris Wilson

Fulham certainly face an uphill task to turn this one around. Will they lose hope as the half goes on, as so many teams do against City?

The away side know that they just need to keep this up – if they can, they should be on their way to a relatively straightforward win in south London, before they travel slightly north to Tottenham on Tuesday.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:21 , Chris Wilson

HALF-TIME: Not many options for Fulham as they try to attack at the end of this half. The whistle goes and the first half comes to an end.

A fairly satisfying half for Pep Guardiola’s side, as they lead at the break. The perfectionist Catalan may not be too happy with the lack of clear-cut chances City have created despite their possession.

Fulham haven’t really been in the game, though they’ve had a couple of promising openings when they’ve attacked. Perhaps the introduction of Adama Traore or Harry Wilson could change the game.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:17 , Chris Wilson

46 mins: We’ll have three minutes of added time here.

City are finishing the half with plenty of possession, though no clear-cut chances since the goal.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:16 , Chris Wilson

45 mins: Some good play from Iwobi as he gets away down the right and plays in his own inviting cross, but Dias does well to take it off the head of Muniz.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:15 , Chris Wilson

43 mins: Foden and Silva exchange passes in the box and the latter gets a shot away, but it’s blocked and runs behind.

From the corner, De Bruyne clips in an inviting ball, but Akanji can’t get clean contact and he fires over! Great chance.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:14 , Chris Wilson

42 mins: City’s relentless pressing wins them the ball back deep into the Fulham half once more, but they’re forced to work it backwards rather than into the box. That’ll be the main source of Guardiola’s irritation, you’d imagine.

Walker sends in a cross but Castagne heads it away unchallenged.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:11 , Chris Wilson

40 mins: Muniz is almost clean through as Ruben Dias seems to have misjudged a through ball, but the Portuguese manages to get a foot to it.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:10 , Chris Wilson

38 mins: Fulham counter and Castagne almost slips it through to Muniz on the edge of the box, but City manage to clear.

De Bruyne is sent through on the counter, and he cuts inside and tries to bend one towards the far corner, but it deflects behind off Diop.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:08 , Chris Wilson

37 mins: Marco Silva looks agitated on the sideline, and Adama Traore and Harry Wilson are warming up.

Foden tries to thread it through to Haaland, but it’s too close to Leno.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:08 , Chris Wilson

36 mins: Muniz does brilliantly to win and keep the ball on halfway, and Fulham counter, but De Cordova-Reid can’t make clean contact with Robinson’s cross.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:06 , Chris Wilson

34 mins: Fulham have possession for what seems like the first time in five minutes, but they give it away too easily as they try to counter. City are winning the ball back just as easily as they are keeping it.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:05 , Chris Wilson

33 mins: Rodri clips it in towards Foden, but Castagne clears. City have it once again on halfway.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

13:04 , Chris Wilson

30 mins: City aren’t being troubled at all here really, though they’re not creating their usual chances. Gvardiol wins a corner from Castagne.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

12:59 , Chris Wilson

28 mins: City win it back within about three seconds, this time with Pereira at fault. Foden unleashes a shot from outside the box, but Leno catches it.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

12:59 , Chris Wilson

27 mins: Fulham are giving it away far too easily now as they attempt to play out from the back. That same tactic has undone Brighton and Wolves in recent weeks against City.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

12:57 , Chris Wilson

25 mins: Lovely again from Gvardiol, who makes a great overlapping run before squaring it to De Bruyne. It ends up at the feet of Silva, who attempts to curl a shot in but Leno saves easily.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

12:55 , Chris Wilson

24 mins: Muniz just fails to control an inviting diagonal ball into the box, and Ederson collects.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

12:54 , Chris Wilson

22 mins: Ake does come off for Kyle Walker. Pep Guardiola gives an impromptu team talk on the sidelines – he doesn’t look too happy.

Walker will presumably come on as right-back, swapping with Akanji. That side had given Fulham some joy with Akanji coming in as an inverted full-back.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

12:52 , Chris Wilson

21 mins: Seconds after getting up, Foden does brilliantly to win the ball off Alex Iwobi as the last man as Fulham countered.

Ake is moving gingerly, and Walker is warming up on the sideline for City.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

12:51 , Chris Wilson

20 mins: There were 19 passes leading up to the City goal, with nine of their 11 touching the ball. Pep Guardiola’s dream goal probably.

Foden is down briefly after being blocked by De Cordova-Reid.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

12:50 , Chris Wilson

18 mins: Some lovely play triangles from Fulham allow Robinson to break free down the left, but his attempted ball in is intercepted. Promising signs though.

Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

12:48 , Chris Wilson

15 mins: Some confusion in the Fulham defence almost allows City a chance.

The ball is bouncing towards Leno and Bassey, under pressure from Haaland, plays a difficult lobbed pass back to Leno, who gives it back to the centre-back. Bassey then tries to head it out, and De Bruyne gets to it on the byeline, but Haaland can’t get clean contact with the cross in.

GOAL! Fulham 0-1 Manchester City

12:46 , Chris Wilson

13 mins: GOAL! And the champions are ahead!

A lovely goal from a surprising scorer! Josko Gvardiol cuts inside from the wing and exchanges passes with Kevin De Bruyne, who clips a lovely ball past two Fulham defenders and into the Croatian’s path. He takes a touch to take it outside of the defender and slots it low to Leno’s right.

A lovely goal.

Fulham 0-0 Manchester City

12:43 , Chris Wilson

12 mins: De Bruyne tries to change things up by threading a pass through, but Fulham clear. City win the ball back straight away though.

Fulham 0-0 Manchester City

12:42 , Chris Wilson

9 mins: City are finding it more difficult than usual to cut through the opposition defence so far, but they seem to have settled and are keeping possession much easier now.

Fulham 0-0 Manchester City

12:40 , Chris Wilson

8 mins: Castagne does well to win possession and then a throw-in, but Ake does equally well to win the header when Fulham clear.

No clear-cut chances for either side yet, with plenty of exchanges of possession (unusually for City).

Fulham 0-0 Manchester City

12:38 , Chris Wilson

6 mins: City are keeping possession better now. Kovacic skips past a challenge and tries to release Foden, but he’s tackled and Fulham win the throw.

The home side look up for this, despite what that kite-flying video earlier in the week might have suggested.

Fulham 0-0 Manchester City

12:35 , Chris Wilson

3 mins: The last touch was actually off a Fulham man, so City briefly had possession once more.

Fulham win a throw to gain it back though.

Fulham 0-0 Manchester City

12:34 , Chris Wilson

2 mins: The corner is headed away but Fulham come again, with Ruben Dias putting Robinson’s cross behind for another corner.

Fulham 0-0 Manchester City

12:33 , Chris Wilson

1 min: Fulham have the first meaningful attack of the day as Pereira is played through down the left, but his cross is turned behind for a corner.

KICK-OFF! Fulham 0-0 Manchester City

12:31 , Chris Wilson

KICK-OFF! There’s a brief round of applause in memory of Viv Busby, who passed away earlier this week.

Fulham vs Manchester City LIVE

The teams are out as we approach kick-off.

City know that a win takes them one step closer to a fourth league title in a row, but a loss – or even a draw – would put the title back into Arsenal’s hands.

Fulham are safe with nothing left to play for, but such teams often enjoy having a say in the title race if they can.

To give you an indication of the general predictions, City are heavy favourites, priced as low as 2/9 with the bookies.

A Fulham win is offered at 10/1, with a draw 6/1!

Manchester United have gone past embarrassment – but they are still a danger to Arsenal

12:15 , Chris Wilson

The other big game this week takes place tomorrow, and pits Mikel Arteta’s impressive Arsenal side against Erik ten Hag’s struggling Manchester United.

It’s got to the point where, after nights like Monday, Erik ten Hag doesn’t really know what to say any more. That’s part of the problem at Manchester United right now. The manager’s approaches aren’t getting responses, and many of the players have stopped listening. That’s what makes a defeat like that 4-0 to Crystal Palace inevitable, while also inuring the squad to the effects of such humiliations.

It’s worse because there have now been so many. This was no longer abnormal, even for a club like United. There have been at least nine matches in Ten Hag’s two seasons alone that have descended into farce.

All of which brings us to this Sunday, which has immense potential to offer another game on the humiliation list. Except, there is a conspicuous absence from that list, that also goes back much further. If you extend it past Ten Hag’s time, after all, Tottenham Hotspur would get on for their 6-1 victory at Old Trafford in 2020. Arsenal wouldn’t appear, though. Their record at Old Trafford is so poor, having won just once there in their last 16 league visits.

Fulham have won just one of these 15 Premier League home games against Manchester City, beating them 2-1 in November 2005 under Chris Coleman. City have scored in all 15 of these Premier League games at Craven Cottage.

City have won their past 15 meetings with Fulham in all competitions, which is the joint-longest winning run any team has had against another in competitive English football history. City also have 15-game runs against Bournemouth and Watford.

On-form Erling Haaland has five goals in his three appearances against the Cottagers, with three coming earlier this season in a 5-1 win at the Etihad.

Mikel Arteta: I would have taken Arsenal’s current position at start of season

12:00 , Chris Wilson

City’s title rivals will be keeping a watchful eye on today’s early kick-off, with the Gunners knowing that any City slip-up would hand them the advantage before they play Manchester United tomorrow.

And even though the destination of the trophy is not in their hands, Mikel Arteta insists he would have accepted Arsenal’s position in the Premier League title race heading into the final two weeks of the season had he been offered it at the start of the campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s side could win both of their remaining games and still not end a 20-year wait for a league title as Manchester City will usurp them if they win all of the three fixtures they have left to play.

“I would take the pen and sign it,” the Spaniard replied when asked if he would have taken Arsenal’s current position before a ball had been kicked this season.

How the teams are faring

11:53 , Chris Wilson

City’s recent form has been well-publicised, with Guardiola’s side not having lost in the league since December (a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa).

The Cityzens have won their last five league games 5-1, 2-0, 4-0, 5-1 and 4-2.

Fulham’s recent results have been far more mixed. Marco Silva’s side drew 0-0 to Brentford last time out, with their last win coming against West Ham on 14 April.

In between these two games they drew 1-1 to Crystal Palace and lost 3-1 to Liverpool.

Team news

11:43 , Chris Wilson

Pep Guardiola also makes only one change to last week’s side, who ran out 5-1 winners against Wolves.

Kyle Walker drops to the bench and Ruben Dias comes in at centre-back, with Manuel Akanji moved to right-back.

Team news

11:40 , Chris Wilson

Fulham make just one change from the side that drew 0-0 against Brentford last week.

Sasa Lukic is replaced by Bobby De Cordova-Reid – who captains the side – with Iwobi moving back into midfield.

Team news

11:35 , Chris Wilson

FULHAM XI: Leno; Castagne, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Iwobi, Palhinha; De Cordova-Reid, Pereira, Willian; Muniz.

SUBS: Rodak, Tete, Ream, Reed, Cairney, Wilson, Adama, Raul, Broja.

MANCHESTER CITY XI: Ederson; Akanji, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Foden, De Bruyne, Bernardo; Haaland.

SUBS: Ortega, Walker, Stones, Doku, Alvarez, Gomes, Nunes, Bobb, Lewis.

Team news

11:22 , Chris Wilson

A reminder of the early team news as we approach the announcement of the line-ups.

Harrison Reed could return to Fulham’s squad having missed the game against Brentford, with Marco Silva’s group in good health. Tosin Adarabioyo may miss out again as the defender nears an exit on a free transfer.

Manchester City are also thought not to have any fresh injury concerns after Ederson’s recent return in goal. Some rotation is likely with Pep Guardiola shuffling his squad throughout a hectic run-in.

Premier League title race: Who has the best fixtures – Man City or Arsenal?

11:12 , Chris Wilson

The Premier League is heading for a classic title race, with Manchester City and Arsenal set for a thrilling battle as we enter the final week of the season.

Pep Guardiola’s side are aiming to win a fourth league title in a row – a feat that has never been achieved in the history of English football, and the title is still in their hands.

The champions travel to Fulham on Saturday and a win there would put the pressure on Arsenal ahead of their visit to Manchester United on Sunday. If Mikel Arteta’s side fail to win at Old Trafford, it will be match point City when they face Tottenham on Tuesday night.

Below is a rundown of the remaining fixtures for both sides.

Pep Guardiola promises Manchester City won’t be left ‘high and dry’ by Fulham

11:05 , Karl Matchett

Pep Guardiola has revealed Manchester City have been training on long and dry grass this week in preparation for Saturday’s trip to Fulham.

Title-chasing City’s possession-based passing game is suited to the slick, watered surface they usually play on at the Etihad Stadium.

City boss Guardiola claimed his team benefited from a slower pitch when they won at Nottingham Forest last month because it caused the hosts to spurn some gilt-edged chances.

However, that was widely perceived as a gentle dig at Forest for not preparing a quicker track and he appears to be expecting Fulham to take a similar approach this weekend.

Pep Guardiola has no doubt Fulham will “do everything” to beat Manchester City on Saturday no matter how much fun they have had in training.

Video footage circulated this week of some of Fulham’s squad flying kites at the club’s training ground during a lighter moment in their schedule.

That prompted some fans of City’s title rivals Arsenal to question whether the mid-table Cottagers will have their minds fully on the job as they prepare to host the champions on Saturday.

Manchester City will hope to take another step towards the Premier League title as they travel to take on Fulham.

Pep Guardiola’s side, seeking to become the first team to win the English top flight in four successive seasons, control their own destiny with just three games left in the campaign.

They begin the weekend one point behind leaders Arsenal, who face a potentially tricky trip to Manchester United on Sunday and have played a game more than their title rivals.

Fulham have little to play for at this stage with safety long since secured and European football well out of reach, but Marco Silva will be urging his side to finish the season strongly.

Manchester United, meanwhile, suddenly face competition for sixth, as both Newcastle United and Chelsea enjoy resurgent ends to difficult campaigns. So, with a week of the season to go, here’s how the battle for the final European places is shaping up.
