Fighting Hawks draw 0-0 to St. Thomas in season finale

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota Fighting Hawks concluded the regular season with a scoreless draw to the St. Thomas Tommies. Today’s tie eliminates NoDak from Summit League postseason contention. 

St. Thomas started the game off firing off three shots before UND was able to get their first in the eighth minute. The rest of the first half was relatively even with shots 7-3 and shots on goal 4-3 in favor of the Tommies. Despite being just outshot UND led possession 51%-49%. 

The second half was dominated by St. Thomas with shots being 11-4 and shots on goal 3-2. The Hawks had a few good looks on net in the second with one shot hitting the crossbar and another solid shot that was was saved by UST’s goalkeeper Olivia Rowe. 

Postgame Notes

•    The all-time series remains tied at 1-1-2. 

•    Today’s draw was the first time UND has tied St. Thomas at Bronson Field. 

•    With last season’s 0-0 contest against the Tommies, UND has not scored against UST since Oct. 2, 2022. 

•    The Hawks end the season 4-8-6, tying the all-time record for ties in a single season. 

•    Freshman Grace Miller notched her second shutout of the season while recording seven saves. 

•    St. Thomas bested UND in shots 18-7 and shots on goal 7-5. 

•    UND led corner kicks 5-3.

•    The Hawks tallied 14 fouls, compared to UST’s five.
