Boston College Football Suffers Second Straight Loss, Falls to Virginia Tech

The Boston College Eagles (4-3, 1-2 ACC) football team lost to the Virginia Tech Hokies (4-3, 2-1 ACC) 42-21 on Thursday night at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Va.

The styling duo of Hokies quarterback Kyron Drones and running back Bhayshul Tuten led Virginia Tech’s offensive success.

Drones scored first two touchdowns of the game on the ground with an 11-yard and one-yard run. Tuten followed with a pair of touchdowns on an 83-yard run and a 20-yard reception pass from Drones.

However, the Eagles didn’t go down without a fight.

Boston College recorded 21 unanswered points, primarily on Hokies turnovers. After stopping Virginia Tech to open the second half, the Eagles got on the board with an 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Thomas Castellanos to tight end Jeremiah Franklin.

After that, Boston College scored on a 20-yard touchdown reception by running back Treshaun Ward and a five-yard touchdown run by running back Kye Robichaux. The Hokies turned the ball over on an interception and fumble on back-to-back drives.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, the strength and skill of Tuten was too much to handle. The senior scored two more touchdowns in the fourth with a six-yard run and a 61-yard run to seal the game for the Hokies.

In total, Tuten tallied 18 carries for 266 yards and three touchdowns. The outing broke a program record for most rushing yards in a single game.

Boston College returns to Alumni Stadium on Friday, Oct. 25 to take on the Louisville Cardinals for homecoming.
