Blue Alert issued for ‘armed and dangerous’ man involved in shooting Memphis police chief

MEMPHIS, Texas (KFDA) – A Blue Alert has been issued for a man wanted in the involvement in the killing or serious injury of a law enforcement officer in Memphis.

Police in Hall County are searching for 33-year-old Seth Altman.

According to officials, police were delivering a warrant to Altman for a burglary charge.

Officials say the suspect fled out the back of the house and was confronted by the police chief who was shot by Altman.

According to officials, Chief Rex Plant was taken to Lubbock for medical treatment and is in stable condition.

Officials describe Altman as a six-foot-two white man weighing about 220 pounds. He is wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

Officials say Altman is believed to be armed and dangerous.

If you see him, do not approach him, call 9-1-1.

The Texas Rangers have been called in to assist for an attempted capital murder investigation.

Memphis ISD has cancelled all classes today following this incident.

City Hall is closed for the rest of the day.
